French people have a reputation for being RUDE . . . especially French waiters. But who knew that was a deep-seated and protected point of CULTURAL PRIDE? A guy named Guillaume Rey is originally from France, but now he lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. And he had a job as a waiter at a restaurant called Milestones . . . until he was fired in August of 2016 for being too RUDE. But now, he’s filed a complaint with the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal . . . because he says he’s a victim of DISCRIMINATION. Why? Because being rude and direct is a big part of his French culture. Milestones tried to have the complaint dismissed because they didn’t think, you know, “being a rude French guy” really counted as a protected cultural value. But the tribunal denied their application . . . so they’re going to hear the case.
