Scalpers have always been a pain when it comes to concert tickets. They buy a bunch of them then charge people a bunch of money for them.
Ticketmaster is looking at a possible way around that: FACIAL RECOGNITION. It’s possible that someday they’ll have our FACE on file along with your other info. That way, you won’t have to deal with scalpers anymore.
And at the venue, the only proof of purchase you’d need to bring is your FACE. No ticket necessary.
It seems like a massive invasion of privacy, but it COULD be the future. There’s no timetable for any of this yet. It’s not even clear if the technology is ready.
The big issue I see with this is what if something comes up and you can no longer make the show and sell your ticket? Can you no longer do that? I don’t think they’ve figured this whole thing out yet.
