Man Loses Thousands After Mispronouncing Song Title on Jeopardy

Imagine having $3200 at your fingertips and losing it because you misprounced a word. That sounds like it sucks, huh? Well that actually happened to Nick Spicher.

He buzzed in and answered “What is GANGSTER’S Paradise Lost?” If you don’t know, the song is in fact “Gangsta’s Paradise.”

That answer took him to the lead, but the judges weren’t having it and took that $3,200 away from him and put him back in second place.

Watch it below:

Let Nick’s mistake be a lesson to us all. In 2018, you gotta keep it gangsta at all times. Never Gangster #Jeopardy pic.twitter.com/NMO7QsAfyI

That seems a little ridiculous, right? Well it turns out the judges explained why they had to revoke the money in their blog stating:

“Although Nick’s response of ‘Gangster’s Paradise Lost’ was initially accepted, the hard R sound caught the ear of one member of the onstage team, who immediately followed up with a quick check. It turns out that ‘gangsta’ and ‘gangster’ are both listed separately in the Oxford English Dictionary, each with its own unique definition.”

So saying gangster actually changed the definition.

The more you know.

In case you were wondering, he actually won the competition that night!
