“This album ain’t about a party,” Kenny Chesney says of his upcoming album, The Big Revival.
Hold on to your No Shoes Nation koozies and be prepared to possibly hear a very different side of Chesney on the new project.
In a candid interview with Radio.com, Chesney revealed he’s all but leaving the keg in the closet and digging much deeper with his new project.
It’s kind of hard to fathom, isn’t it? Especially since anyone who’s ever seen Chesney in concert will likely admit the experience was one of the best parties they’ve ever attended.
But there’s also a poignant side to him that we all know and love, too. In a massive catalog, let’s not forget those more introspective and reflective songs. Remember “The Tin Man,” “Me and You” and“There Goes My Life”? (Get the tissues out for that last one.)
So when you stop and think about it, Chesney’s decision to calm the party vibe down a bit and get a little more personal with fans through this new music shouldn’t really come as a shock. He’s done it before with tremendous success. Still, he admits there is a bit of a stigma surrounding his music and career.
“There’s this perception that I only sing about partying and getting drunk,” Chesney admitted in the interview. “If people saw how hard I work and how much thought went into every move we make, they would be astounded.”
And apparently with The Big Revival, we’re going to hear just that — carefully-crafted songs with substance, songs that create a conversation with fans about real life.
“It’s about living with passion, about confidence, about walking into a room full of people and smiling and meaning it,” he said. “Having the courage to hear this voice in your head and follow it, maybe for the first time in your life. It’s about taking your life and living it to the fullest.”
I don’t know about you, but I’m pumped already. The Big Revival will be released on Sept. 23.
