Chris Janson Borrowed Tim McGraw’s Private Jet . . . So He Could Take Flying Lessons
CHRIS JANSON hasn’t reached superstar status yet, but if he does, he might be buying a jet instead of just a boat . . . and it’s all because of TIM MCGRAW.
He says, quote, “I have my student pilot’s license thanks to Tim. He’s the one who got me into flying. He lent me his plane for several trips to start learning. He’s an unbelievable guy . . . a really good human being. I really love Tim McGraw.”
He adds, quote, “If you want to get home, you can fly yourself. If you can afford to do it, you should do it.” (???)
We’ve heard several stories through the years about country stars being generous with their jets . . . but my favorite is still the time KENNY CHESNEY completely forgot that he let ZAC BROWN borrow his.
Josh Turner Wrote 80 Songs for His New Album, But Only Four Made the Final Cut
You know all that extra work you do that no one on the planet ever sees or hears about? Well, country stars do that too . . . except WE hear about it, because their lives are cooler than ours.
JOSH TURNER’s new album “Deep South” is out today and he told Taste of Country that he wrote 80 songs for it . . . but only four made it onto the record. The album has 11 tracks, so seven came from other writers.
But don’t feel sorry for him, or those 76 discarded songs. He says putting in all that work made him better at his craft. Quote, “I definitely know that I’ve grown as a songwriter. I made a concerted effort to get out of the rut I was in.”
So, what does the album sound like? He says, quote, “I think fans will be able to recognize there’s a good mixture of your typical Josh Turner record, but there’s an air of freshness and newness. It still has that honesty, that heart.”
MARGO PRICE’s “Midwest Farmer’s Daughter” won the second annual American Music Prize for Best Debut Album. It’s not a country award. She was up against over 250 other artists from all genres. She also got $25,000.
KACEY MUSGRAVES was on “A Prairie Home Companion” back in January, where she performed an unreleased song called “Butterflies”. It’s really good, which explains why it’s getting some momentum.
How about KEITH URBAN and his acoustic guitar backstage at the Opry doing a “snippet” of Miranda Lambert’s “Vice”?
