Thomas Rhett’s Dad Told Him People Would Hate and Then Love His Song “Crash And Burn”

THOMAS RHETT knew it was a risk to release his R&B-sounding song “Crash And Burn” as the first single from his upcoming album.  Even his father, singer-songwriter RHETT AKINS, said people would hate it at first.

Thomas explains, “My dad told me, ‘I think the song’s a hit.  Just prepare to be hated for about two weeks.’  And he was totally right.  When you do something different, people hate it until they don’t.”

Thomas says he put a lot of thought into the name of the new album, which is called “Tangled Up”.

Quote, “The title comes from a lyric in one of the new songs.   I think it’s a cool way to point to all the different influences that I have as an artist and a songwriter . . . from soul and R&B to old school country to rock and everything in between.  They are all in this record.”

NFL Lineman J.J. Watt Tackled a Fan Who Ran on Stage at the Zac Brown Band Show

This kind of looks like a setup . . . but even if it is, it’s pretty well done.  A fan jumped onstage during the ZAC BROWN BAND show on Sunday in Milwaukee, and was immediately tackled by Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. WATT.

The fan “squares up” like a receiver preparing to get hit, so maybe he knew it was coming.  Still, he gets up pretty slow.  J.J. posted the video on Twitter and captioned it, “Nobody messes with @Zac Brown Band.”  J.J.’s from Wisconsin, if that matters.

There have been at least two different songs named “See You Again”.  There’s the CARRIE UNDERWOOD version . . . and the one from “Furious 7” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth.  So, Carrie did a mashup of both at her show on Sunday at the Big Barrel Country Music Festival in Dover, Delaware.  (Video)

BLAKE SHELTON performs his song “Bringing Back the Sunshine” in the new video opening of NBC’s NASCAR coverage.  He says, quote, “I’m so pumped that my song is going to be the kickoff to NBC’s coverage of NASCAR this season.”  You can check out the video on the “NASCAR on NBC” Facebook page.

JAKE OWEN’s “Real Life“ video features darts, beer, waffles, a wig, a stuffed squirrel, chubby guys dancing . . . and a “director” barking out annoying instructions.
