Kelly Clarkson Raises $400,000 in Christmas Concert
Kelly Clarkson‘s Miracle on Broadway concert, held Dec. 20 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, raised $400,000 for multiple local charities, thanks to ticket sales, generous fans and a couple of the show’s stars.
The show included performances by Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, Ronnie Dunn, Kacey Musgraves, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Charles Esten, Meghan Trainor, Kix Brooks, Martina McBride and others. The singer called on her famous mother-in-law to help bring in so many people, especially so close to Christmas.
“I figured if I got [McEntire], everyone would have to say yes,” she jokes (quote via Nashville’s Tennessean). “I’ve never asked an artist to do anything other than sing with me, which a lot of people say no, and it hurts my feelings, which is OK.”

Sugarland + Live Nation Reach Settlement With Indiana State Fair Stage Collapse Victims
Sugarland and Live Nation have reached a settlement with the victims of the stage collapse at the 2011 Indiana State Fair that killed seven people and left almost 100 others injured.
According to the Associated Press, the members of Sugarland, Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles, along with Live Nation and 16 other defendants, will pay a total of $39 million to settle claims from the incident.
The accident occurred when high winds made the stage’s rigging fall, causing the stage’s roof to collapse on top of fans waiting for Sugarland to begin their show. Subsequent investigations revealed that fair officials neglected to put together a sufficient evacuation plan and that the rigging failed to meet emergency standards.

Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton Perform Surprise Show at Hometown Bed and Breakfast
Patrons of the Ladysmith bed and breakfast in Tishomingo, Okla. got way more than their money’s worth this past Friday (Dec. 19), when proprietor Miranda Lambert and her husband Blake Shelton dropped in for a spontaneous concert.
Lambert opened the Ladysmith in September in the tiny town where the couple live. The property features a number of theme rooms, a tea room and private dining room, a well-stocked bar and lounge, a casual TV lounge and a self-serve coffee and tea area. It also has an area for private events.
According to news station KXII, the spur-of-the-moment concert was announced on the Ladysmith’s Facebook page just hours before it was to begin. Tickets for the all-ages show cost five dollars.
The couple had a turnout of about 80 people who got to see a no-frills, up-close-and-personal acoustic set from two of country music’s biggest stars. Attendees also got to meet the couple after the impromptu gig.
Employees of the Ladysmith tell KXII this is the first time the couple have performed at the establishment, but they hope they’ll play a return engagement soon.
