WILLIE NELSON was one of the performers at last week’s “A Salute to the Troops: Performing in the White House” . . . along with Mary J. Blige, John Fogerty and Common.
Before the show CNN asked Willie if he planned to discuss pot legalization with PRESIDENT OBAMA. He said, quote, “I probably won’t say anything to the President about it . . . but I think I realize how he feels.
“I’ve read some of his books about it when he was a kid how he had delved into that matter a little bit. I’m sure he’s very understanding of what’s going on and he may be happy to see it happening.”
And because Willie thinks weed is a wonder drug, he also believes it could end political gridlock: Quote, “I think stress is the cause of a lot of our problems, and I believe the best medicine for stress is pot. I think it would make us get along better.”

RANDY HOUSER did a “Five Things You Don’t Know About Me” interview with Yahoo.com, and we learned about his love for a certain Tennessee whiskey. He said, quote, “I have a Jack Daniels shrine in my living room, which is red and outrageous, but it’s awesome. I have the barrel, and all the bottles . . . and I rarely open one.” (He rolled his eyes on the last phrase so, yes, he partakes.)
He also has plans to be like TOBY KEITH and DIERKS BENTLEY and get in the saloon business: Quote, “One of my biggest dreams is to open a bar called the Dog House. That’s going to happen.”
And wow, is he particular when it comes to underwear: Quote, “I’m a slave to the Fruit of the Loom boxer briefs. I can’t wear the Hanes. For some reason everything kind of sits right in the Fruit of the Looms.”
GARTH BROOKS hugged a cancer patient in the audience and gave her his guitar at a show in Minneapolis. He noticed her holding a sign that read “Chemo this morning. Garth tonight. Enjoying ‘The Dance’.”
According to “The Tennessean”, JASON ALDEAN is planning to yank his album “Old Boots, New Dirt” from Spotify . . . but he’s leaving the rest of his catalog. It’s different from TAYLOR SWIFT who pulled ALL of her music from the service.
People.com asked country stars what they ate before Wednesday’s CMAs. My favorites include CHARLES KELLEY who went with “Beef jerky and whiskey” . . . KIMBERLY PERRY had “Shrimp, grits and sweet tea” . . . and ASHLEY MONROE, who said, quote, “I had a little vodka and water, a little refresher.”
FAITH HILL will appear in an upcoming movie called “Dixieland”. It stars Chris Zylka, who plays Tom Garvey on HBO’s “The Leftovers” . . . and Elvis’ granddaughter Riley Keough. They’ve finished filming but there’s no word yet when it’ll open.
THE SWON BROTHERS are the NRA Country Artist of the Month for November.
