American Country Countdown Award Postponed to 2016

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Show First Signs of PDA on ‘The Voice’

Now that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have officially confirmed their relationship, it seems the two are ready to bee seen together. A representative of a Brazilian entertainment site who was watching from the The Voice live audience caught Stefani running into Shelton’s arms during a taping, posting it on Instagram Nov. 16 and leaving no doubt that the two are definitely a couple.

Shelton’s personal life has been a point of interest since this summer, when he divorced from fellow country star Miranda Lambert. Stefani and Shelton began working together on The Voice in Season 7 in the fall of 2014, but rumors surfaced of their dating after being seen together at a Halloween party this year. The confirmation came just before the airing of the CMA awards, at which both Shelton and Lambert were nominated. Stefani did not attend the event, but was seen at the country star’s label afterparty.

The pair made their first The Voice live appearance in November. Contestant Amy Vaschal sang a rendition of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” and Shelton referenced the the coaches’ appearance on the Tonight Show, implying a little more than he said when Adam Levine questioned whether he actually had heard that song before.

“Gwen sang it to me on the Tonight Show one night, so …” And the audience went wild. Stefani was visibly embarrassed as she looked down, shaking her head and smiling. Pharrell even had to work to regain his composure before complimenting Vaschal’s performance.

Shelton’s The Voice team members have been climbing the ranks in the competition, and he says he won’t back down from a win, despite dating one of his competitors.

American Country Countdown Awards Postponed Until 2016

Country music fans looking forward to the American Country Countdown Awards will have to wait a bit longer: The awards show has been postponed until the spring of 2016.

According to the Tennessean, the ACCAs, which were held in December in 2014, will next take place in the spring of 2016. That iteration of the ceremony will also honor the Grand Ole Opry’s 90th anniversary.

The 2014 American Country Countdown Awards marked the first time that the awards had been handed out. Florida Georgia Line hosted the event, which aimed to “honor the year’s best country music with awards, thrilling performances, special moments and additional surprises,” and Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert were among the winners.

“Fans of the American Country Countdown [radio program] are some of the most loyal and passionate fans around, so it’s a natural next step to bring that popular brand to television,” Simon Andreae, executive vice president of alternative entertainment for Fox, said at the time. “Fox has a long history of big, bold music events, and we can’t wait to bring down the house in Nashville this December with some of the most popular names in country music.”

The ACCAs took the place of the American Country Awards, which had been held yearly since 2010.

This December, in place of the awards show, Fox will instead air a new television special, American Country Countdown’s Top 10 Stories of 2015. The hour-long program will feature appearances from Aldean, Bryan, FGL and many more. It is scheduled to run on Dec. 17 at 7PM ET.
