And the celebrity divorces continue…
Jake Owen is Getting Divorced
JAKE OWEN is getting divorced. Did anyone see that coming? Kinda.
Jake’s been married to Lacey Buchanan for three and a half years . . . they met when she was in the videos for“Eight Second Ride” and “Barefoot Blue Jean Night”. He’s 33, she’s 25, and they have a two-and-a-half year old daughter named Pearl.
Here’s the official statement Jake released on Friday. “I wanted to let my fans know how much I’ve appreciated their support of not only my career, but my family as a whole.
“Sadly, Lacey and I have decided to end our marriage. We want to focus on our daughter Pearl and make sure that she has a beautiful life with loving parents. We appreciate you respecting our privacy during this time.”
He also posted on Twitter that same morning. Quote, “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. We appreciate your support and privacy in this matter.”
If you remember, Jake did an interview with “Country Weekly” last month where he got pretty personal about the problems they were having . . . and it got a little awkward.
He said, quote, “I didn’t think this was anyone’s business other than mine and my wife’s, but for the last few months, we’ve really been having a hard time, struggling with communication and literally talking about divorce.” So, this isn’t that surprising.
Thomas Rhett Balances Marriage and Touring With Honesty and Adventure
THOMAS RHETT knows how hard touring can be on a marriage . . . because he admits that there ARE temptations on the road.
He even told Taste of Country, quote, “No girls on the bus, no girls touch me during meet and greet, and all that kind of stuff.”
So he has two keys if you want to stay motivated in your relationship, the way he does with HIS wife . . . honesty and adventure.
Quote, “We’re brutally honest with each other . . . she knows that if I were to ever do anything dumb or stupid, it would take me about four hours and I would admit it to her face. I’ve always had a guilty conscience like that.”
In other words, KNOWING you could never hide something means you won’t try to get away with something? We THINK that’s what he meant.
For the ‘adventure’ part, don’t get too excited . . . he doesn’t mean the bedroom. He means that when he and his wife are together, they travel and see as much as they can. They’ve been married two and a half years, so let’s see how it works out.
CHARLES KELLEY of LADY ANTEBELLUM is going to be a dad in February. He’s been married for six years, and he and his wife have been pretty vocal about their fertility issues. So on Friday his wife Cassie posted this on their blog. Quote, “We are so happy we can hardly stand it. Like, ecstatic and I’m crying even as I type those words!”
MIRANDA LAMBERT told a crowd on Friday about her secret to dealing with the Blake situation. Quote, “I wish I would have been drinking all day. I deserve it, I got divorced.”
Reba McEntire Announces ‘Until They Don’t Love You’ as Her New Single
Reba McEntire has selected “Until They Don’t Love You” as her second single from Love Somebody.
The seventh track on McEntire’s newest album was written by Shane McAnally, Lori McKenna and Josh Osborne and was co-produced by Tony Brown and the singer herself. Its pounding, deliberate piano, guitar line and drums accentuate McEntire’s sad, soulful vocals.
“Don’t pay attention to your heart until it’s bleeding / Don’t know what you have until you can’t keep it,” McEntire sings in the bridge. “Don’t know what you want ’til you need it / Don’t know that it’s love until it’s leavin’.”
A chorus of blues-y “oooh”s chime in throughout the song, the chorus of which emphasizes a lesson in love that many have learned the hard way: “Sometimes you don’t love somebody until they don’t love you.”
“When we released Love Somebody, I was reminded of the power of my amazing fans!” McEntire says in a press release. “The energy and sass of “Until They Don’t Love You” mimics “Going Out Like That,” but takes it up another notch. When we were talking about the next single, I kept going back to this one … it’s just so much fun to perform live.”
“Until They Don’t Love You” will make its official radio debut on America’s Morning Show on Friday (Aug. 7), and McEntire will perform the new single on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Aug. 12.
The country icon’s new music announcement comes on the heels of a much sadder revelation: On Monday (Aug. 3), McEntire announced that she and husband Narvel Blackstock have separated after 26 years of marriage.
“Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other,” they say in a statement. Blackstock joined McEntire’s band in 1980; he now runs a management company that represents McEntire, as well as their daughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton.
“They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so,” the statement continues.
