Joe Nichols Believes Today’s “Shallow” Country Music Is On the Way Out

JOE NICHOLS released his first album in 1996, so “Rolling Stone” asked him to explain the difference between today’s country music and what he was hearing a couple of decades ago.

Joe thinks fans are being spoon-fed something that has no depth.  But that’s okay, he’s also sure they’ll eventually come to their senses and demand something better.

He said, quote, “The fans are smarter than we think they are, and they start yearning for some kind of organic feeling that comes to music . . . not just, ‘I heard this before, it sounds familiar, I like the beat, so I’m gonna like it.’

“Sometimes they search for more.  They search for more depth in the song, they search for depth in the artist and I think that’s where we’re headed.

“I don’t know what kind of music is going to be popular next year, but I know what kind of music and what kind of lyric isn’t . . . and that’s the very shallow one.”

This year’s CMA Awards will be going down November 4th on ABC.  And in a shameless bit of stunt casting, STEVEN TYLER will announce the nominees on the September 9th edition of “Good Morning America”.  (CMA World)

Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, and Emmylou Harris will be performing at this year’s “All for the Hall Benefit Concert”.  It’s going down October 6th in New York City.  Proceeds will help education programs at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.  (Full Story)

BLAKE SHELTON wants you to know that he still cuts his own grass.  He recently Tweeted, “I’m mowing with a push mower.  I’m mowing a BIG yard with a push mower.  I make a lot of money and I’m mowing a BIG yard with a push mower.”
