Eric Church’s “Wrecking Ball” Is Resonating with Military Spouses
ERIC CHURCH wrote “Wrecking Ball” back when he spent way too much time on the road away from his wife . . . and couldn’t wait to get back to let her know how much he missed her, if you know what I mean.
He says, quote, “It’s about missing that person and passion and love and all those things.”
It’s a story military spouses know all too well, and they’ve been telling Eric all the details. He says, quote, “It’s amazing the stories I get [from] soldiers and soldiers’ wives about when they’ve been apart a long time.
“It’s a song they’re either looking forward to when they get the hell home, or they play until they get back home. And it’s been interesting for me to hear those stories. And great to hear them and see that it’s working well.”
Dierks Bentley’s “Riser” Video Was Inspired By A Homeless Mother of Two
DIERKS BENTLEY found the inspiration for his “Riser” video from a segment on “60 Minutes”about families living out of their cars. The video follows the real life story of a mother of two named Amy Thomas.
He explains quote, “The first thing I thought when I met Amy was you would have never known she’d been living out of her car with two kids.
“Her story is such a solid example that there are people we pass every day who are going through tough times. I really wanted this video to reflect the risers among us, so it was important to me that the storyline follow something real.”
(Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the video. Fast forward to 1:01 to see the real Amy explain how she put her life together thanks to Nashville’s Safe Haven, a program that provides housing to families in need.)
