How Many Degrees of Separation Between Vince Gill and Random Country Stars?
People.com asked 13 different country acts to play a game of Six Degrees of Separation fromVINCE GILL. It’s in honor of Vince’s 25th anniversary of being a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
Luke Bryan and Kip Moore were the furthest away at three degrees each.
The two-degree group includes Kacey Musgraves, Charles Kelley, Lauren Alaina, David Nail, Jon Pardi . . . and Dierks Bentley, whose connection came when he was starting out and Vince showed up unannounced at a bar to jam with everyone on stage.
The one-degree club has Chris Stapleton, Eric Paslay, Darius Rucker, plus Keith Urban who claimed that he and Vince just “might be married.” Although the ranking is probably because they “played a song together one time.”
Little Big Town took their one-degree status too seriously. They said he likes them the BEST because they cut a song with him, AND because he inducted them into the Grand Ole Opry. They do have a point on that one.

For example, Blake Shelton’s girlfriend Gwen Stefani has a Vince Gill separation number of 3. She can trace her musical connection through former “American Idol” judge Kara Dioguardi, who wrote songs for both Gwen andKelly Clarkson. And Kelly completes the circuit for having performed with Vince on “Don’t Rush”.
Blake’s got a separation of 1, since Vince wrote “You Ain’t Dolly (And You Ain’t Porter”, which Blake sang withAshley Monroe.
Jake Owen Can’t Believe He Has the Number One Country Album
JAKE OWEN had a lovely morning surprise the other day when he found out that his album, “American Love”, debuted at Number One. Quote, “What an awesome feeling to wake up and find out [it’s] the number one country album.”
It’s also Number Four on the “Billboard 200” chart. He says that’s a first for him and he’s “very pumped about it.” It’s also vindication because he “poured his heart and soul” into making the album and is thrilled to know people like it.
It takes a lot to impress RONNIE DUNN’s mom. He posted video of her listening to his new song “Damn Drunk” . . . and when it ended all she would say is, quote, “I thought he could find something better to write about.”
(Here’s the post. Forward to the 2:04 mark for her comment.)
CAM did a stripped-down version of her song “Half Broke Heart“. It’s from CMT’s “Next Women of Country Live”.
She also talked about her musical influences and what inspired her to launch her career.
There’s a video parody of LUKE BRYAN’s “Huntin’, Fishin’, and Lovin’ Every Day” that’s getting a lot of attention. It’s from the football special teams division at Brigham Young University, and it’s called “Puntin’, Kickin’, and Lovin’ Every Day“.
