Dierks Bentley Used Vanderbilt University as a Springboard to Country Music
If you want to be a country star, you should probably move to Nashville, right? That’s whatDIERKS BENTLEY did, but he did it the smart way. He enrolled at Vanderbilt University so he could make connections right away.
And he did just that. His first day in town he applied for a job at the Country Music Association . . . and he got it.
He says, quote, “The school was [really just a way] to buy some time and figure out how this town works and try to attack it from all sides.”
One more thing: “Live at the Grand Ole Opry” released video of Dierks and ELLE KING performing theJohnny Cash – June Carter classic “Jackson“. It’s from their performance there earlier this month.
This is good news: LORETTA LYNN has recovered enough from her recent injury to get back on stage. She and 12-year-old country singer Emi Sunshine did two shows in Branson, Missouri over the weekend. Emi posted a photo on Facebook, saying, “A weekend like this is beyond my hopes and dreams.”
Loretta’s also still on the schedule to perform next Tuesday at The Grand Ole Opry.
Here’s another reason the “50th Annual CMA Awards” will be one for the ages. Seven former Entertainer of the Year winners will be performing. We’re talking George Strait, Alabama, Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn,Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, and Charley Pride. (CMT)
DARIUS RUCKER released his “If I Told You So“ video. It’s kind of a black-and-white tour through L.A. featuring shots of streets, beaches, Hollywood landmarks . . . and Darius inside the famous Capitol Records building. There’s also a hot chick, in case it matters.
THOMAS RHETT shaved his beard, and wow does he look different. As in, 10 years younger different. (Let’s start with a pic taken on Saturday of him with the beard. And then the big reveal photo ONE day later. He looks like he’s going to prom or something.)
KIP MOORE released a new song called “All Time Low“. It’s one of the tracks on his new EP“Underground”, which is out Friday. (CAREFUL! There’s an S-word in the chorus. He says, “In this [crappy] dive, spending all my cash. . .”)
7. Safe to say RONNIE DUNN won’t be voting for Hillary next month. He posted all kinds of information about the Clinton Foundation’s alleged ties to Saudi Arabia.
8. I’m telling you, the things these kids come up with when they’re killing time. DAN + SHAY posted video of some backstage antics that includes “dressing room soccer” . . . and tossing Skittles at each other.
