Haters Are Criticizing the CMAs for Putting Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks on the Show
The CMAs are dealing with backlash for putting BEYONCÉ and the DIXIE CHICKS on Wednesday’s show. People have been voicing their anger in the comments section of the CMA social media pages, especially Facebook.
One common complaint is that the CMAs heavily promoted the 50th anniversary, so fans expected wall-to-wall country. They’re convinced the appearance took stage time away from some classic country stars.
Other comments came from people who strongly disagree with Beyoncé’s stance on police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement. (Some of that may have come from this statement that she posted last summer.)
Once the story blew up Beyoncé’s fans got involved. They claimed the CMAs caved to the haters and deleted her appearance from their Twitter and Facebook pages . . . but as of last night it’s still available. (Here’s a link.)
The CMAs released a statement saying they only removed an unapproved promo before the show even aired.
Meanwhile, the Dixie Chicks posted AUDIO of the performance on Twitter, and wrote, “If we all turn this up really loud, together we can drown out the hate.”
Brothers Osborne Drank Way Too Much Before the CMAs
BROTHERS OSBORNEthought they had no shot at beating FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE for Vocal Duo of the Year at the CMAs. But since they were nominated, and there was plenty of liquor, they had some fun. And then their name was announced.
JOHN OSBORNEsaid, quote, “I drank way too much, because I didn’t think we would even come close. I’m almost convinced it [was] a hoax.” His brother T.J. OSBORNE said, quote, “It took all we had to NOT fall down in the aisle.”
Billboard.com ranked all of Wednesday’s CMA performances. Ironically, they put the DIXIE CHICKS –BEYONCÉ performance at the top. That was followed by the DOLLY PARTON tribute, and then the superstar opening medley.
CHRIS STAPLETON gave DWIGHT YOAKAM huge props before their performance at Wednesday CMAs. Quote, “I told him, ‘Man, I just want you to know you’re a hero and I really appreciate you doing this.”
DOLLY PARTON is very honored that she received the Lifetime Achievement Award at Wednesday’s CMAs. But the best part is hearing the women and young stars tell her how she’s inspired them. Quote, “Makes me feel like I might have done something right along the way.”
People.com set up a photo booth for country stars at the CMAs. It was successful. Pics include Dolly Parton,Billy Ray Cyrus, Brothers Osborne, Dustin Lynch, Eric Church, Hayley Orrantia, Garth Brooks, Maren Morris, Randy Travis . . . and Thomas Rhett with his wife Lauren.
