Shania Twain Regrets Turning Down Prince’s Offer to Produce Her Album
Man, I feel like the world missed out on something that could’ve been really awesome. SHANIA TWAIN was doing some press last week when she mentioned that PRINCE once offered to produce an album for her.
It was after she and her husband (slash) producer Mutt Lange had broken up. She wasn’t writing a lot of music, and was also suffering from a vocal cord disorder called dysphonia, which made it almost impossible to sing. Basically, she was in a bad place.
She said quote, “He was calling me and mailing me, but I wasn’t ready to do the album. He said, ‘Come to my studio, let’s get started,’ and I just said, ‘I can’t sing right now, I just don’t have my voice yet.’ And I never did it.”
When she was ready, Prince was on tour . . . and then they just never reconnected. She said, quote, “If I ever had professional regret, that is definitely one of them.”
While we’re on the subject: In case you missed it, Shania performed two of her new songs on Friday’s “Today Show”. She did her comeback single, “Life’s About to Get Good“ . . . and another song called, “Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed“.
Would you hand your newborn baby to someone you’ve never met? A couple did that to DIERKS BENTLEY on Friday . . . so he posted the photo on Instagram. He wrote, “When you are walking through the crowd and someone hands you a maybe two-week-old baby.”
From what we’re hearing, Dierks’ crew was filming a concert-style video for his song “What The Hell Did I Say” during the show, so there’s a chance the baby will be an instant celebrity.
JON PARDI spends some time with a very attractive California girl in his “Heartache on the Dance Floor“ video.
VINCE GILL tells “Rolling Stone“ he’ll be handling lead vocals on four songs when he joins THE EAGLES for the two festivals in New York and L.A. this summer. They are: “Lyin’ Eyes”, “New Kid in Town”, “Take It To The Limit”, and “Heartache Tonight”.
LANCO’s “Greatest Love Story“ video is set in the 1980s. And singer Brandon Lancaster can tell you why, quote, “We [wanted] to go back to a more nostalgic time. It takes you away from Tinder and dating apps and how complex things have gotten. You can find love. It may just be across the street.” (Full Story)
