Why Does Eric Church Have a Taylor Swift Gold Record in his Country Music Hall of Fame Exhibit?
You may recall the story of how ERIC CHURCH was kicked off the RASCAL FLATTS tour back in 2006 because he played too long. But you may not know what happened between him and TAYLOR SWIFT, who replaced him.
He jokingly told her she owed him her first Gold album, and she took it to heart. When her self-titled debut went Gold she sent it over . . . and she wrote, “Eric, thanks for playing too long on the Flatts tour. I sincerely appreciate it. Ha-ha. Love you.”
Eric’s exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame opened last week. In addition to Taylor’s Gold record, you’ll see stuff like his ACM and CMA Awards, clothes he wore in music videos, his first guitar, and his trademark Ray-Ban sunglasses.
Dolly Parton Was Hospitalized Last Summer, But She’s in “Great Health” Now
DON HENLEYwas speaking at last week’s Americana Music Festival when he casually mentioned that DOLLY PARTON walked out of an L.A. hospital last summer so she could film the video to their song “When I Stop Dreaming“.
She told him she had a “medical issue.” Well, Dolly’s rep didn’t deny it, but did make sure to say she’s in “great health.”
(The song is on Don’s “Cass County” album, which is out Friday.) (ABC)
TIM MCGRAW had to cancel two shows over the weekend after doctors put him on vocal rest. He posted the news on Facebook. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that those were the last dates on his Shotgun Rider tour. According to his website, his next scheduled show is October 4th in Las Vegas.
Miranda Lambert and Johnny Cash Among Latest Music City Walk of Fame Inductees
Miranda Lambert, Johnny Cash, E.W. “Bud” Wendell and Steve Cropper will be the next four stars to receive spots on the Music City Walk of Fame.
Lambert, Cash, Wendell and Cropper will receive stars No. 67, 68, 69 and 70, following the induction of award-winning recording artists Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks, as well as retiring Nashville mayor Karl Dean, on Sept. 10.
“Thank you so much to the City of Nashville and Music City Walk of Fame for this honor and privilege,” Lambert says in a statement. “I am proud to join a heritage of other female inductees, such as Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Emmylou Harris and Martina McBride. This is a milestone moment that I will cherish forever.
“I want to congratulate my fellow inductees, Steve Cropper, E.W. “Bud” Wendell and the legendary Johnny Cash — just saying his name alongside mine takes my breath away,” Lambert adds.
Lambert is the reigning CMA Awards and ACM Awards Female Vocalist of the Year, with two Grammy Awards to her credit as well. Her fifth album, Platinum, debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart and the Country Albums chart. She is also the recipient of this year’s Nashville Symphony Harmony Award.
Cash is one of only a few artists who have sold more than 90 million albums. Already a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Man in Black has won four ACM Awards, nine CMA Awards and 17 Grammys, including a posthumous one for his cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt.”
