Carrie Underwood is Releasing a New Album in October, and The First Single, “Smoke Break”, is Out Today
As expected, CARRIE UNDERWOOD’s big announcement on her Facebook Q&A yesterday is that she’s releasing new music. The album is called “Storyteller”and it’s out October 23rd.
She co-wrote six of the tracks, and surprised herself with how old school they sound. Quote, “A lot of the songs I wrote and gravitated to ended up being more traditional and ‘twangy’ than anything I have ever done before.”
The first single is out today, and it’s called “Smoke Break”. She and her co-writers landed on that during a grueling writing session when they kept finding excuses to go outside to enjoy the nice weather.
She says, quote, “So, we wrote a song about taking breaks, and it [evolved] to how the characters deserve to have a moment to themselves, and whatever that moment might be for them . . . and however they may find peace. Just for a second.
“Your life’s still going to be crazy when you come back, but you’ll be better able to handle it after you’ve had a second to gather your thoughts.”
KACEY MUSGRAVES answered some questions during a RamCountry chat. She said the last TV series she binge watched was “Bloodline”, she’s been learning Spanish, and the person she would most want to be stuck in an elevator with is LOUIS C.K. (Here’s the link.)

JERROD NIEMANN has released the video to his song “Blue Bandana“, which is the debut single from his upcoming album. No word yet on a title or release date for that.
JO DEE MESSINA isn’t exactly burning up the charts, which is too bad because her voice is still solid. She recently performed an unplugged version of her hit “A Lesson In Leavin’“. It was also a #1 hit for DOTTIE WEST back in 1980.
