Eric Church Is Going to Tell You How He Feels . . . Whether You Like It or Not

In honor of Father’s Day, somebody asked ERIC CHURCH to say a few words about his dad.  He hesitated, as if he didn’t want to blurt out anything bad . . . and then realized his dad would be more disappointed if he tried to front.

He said, quote, “My dad is . . . I’m trying to find the right words to describe him.  My dad is a great guy, honest guy, very call-it-like-he-sees-it, which is where I get a lot of that.  No B.S.  I’m gonna tell you how I feel . . . whether you like it or not.

“I’m that guy, I’m me.  My dad’s that way, so I get a lot of that from him.  There’s also an honesty and an integrity that my dad carries himself with that I’ve always admired.”

Stephen Colbert Inducted Toby Keith Into the Songwriters Hall of Fame

TOBY KEITH made several appearances on “The Colbert Report” through the years . . . so STEPHEN COLBERT returned the favor by helping induct him into the Songwriters Hall of Fame last week.

He honored Toby for rising from Oklahoma’s oil fields to “become one of the most consistent hit makers in country music.”  He also told this great story:  Quote, “[Toby] was walking out of the stage door and I was going to the rewrite room.

“This was very early on in my show and he didn’t know what he was in for, I guess.  He turned around and said, ‘Hey man, you do a great job . . . whatever the [eff] it is you do.'”  Stephen also “tried” singing “Not As Good As I Once Was”.  (Here’s video.)

Toby put this award above all the others he’s received, saying quote, “I’m a songwriter, and if I never got an artist deal, I’d still be a songwriter.  This is the only one I wanted.  I don’t have to do anything else . . . I don’t care if they ever give me anything else.”

His Facebook page has a clip of several stars congratulating him.  It features tributes from Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Matthew McConaughey, Jimmy Buffett, Trace Adkins, Robin Roberts, Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, and Steven Tyler.

Wynonna’s Next Album Will Be Raw, Vulnerable . . . and Joyful

WYNONNA and her husband Cactus Moser have been working on her new album, and it sounds like she’s digging pretty deep for inspiration.  CMT asked Cactus about it and he said, quote, “[It’s] very honest, very broken down, yet rockin’.”

Wynonna added, quote, “I’m blessed and broken and at a raw, vulnerable, exciting, joyful place.  I’m just trying to find celebration through this music business stuff.  Trying to find my way through and get to the truth of why it is I love to sing.”

LITTLE BIG TOWN was featured on yesterday’s “CBS Sunday Morning“.  They talked about getting brutal reviews early in their career, being dropped from their record label . . . and the controversy around their crossover smash “Girl Crush”.

RANDY HOUSER posted a silly photo of him in bed with a cardboard cutout of a certain well-known country star.  He captioned it, “He sure is dreamy.  LOL.  LUKE BRYAN.”
