Happy Birthday to one of the “Black Hats” Clint Black! He is 53 years old today.
Tim McGraw Is One of “GQ’s” Unsung Style Heroes of the 2015 Grammys
HIGHLIGHTS: TIM MCGRAW is featured in “GQ’s” “Unsung Style Heroes of the 2015 Grammys.” Some of the highlights include: Everything fits him perfectly, he can totally pull off the tuxedo / cowboy hat combo, and he effortlessly rocks the dressy denim look.
TIM MCGRAW is featured in “GQ’s” “Unsung Style Heroes of the 2015 Grammys.” They chose nominated artists who have a distinct style, and included photos to prove their point. Here are some highlights from his spread . . .
1. His trick to his personal style is that everything fits him perfectly, and he always goes with his trademark cowboy hat. The photo shows Tim in form-fitting pants, and a tight-fitting short sleeve shirt. Key words: Form-fitting and tight.
2. He’s a rock star, so he can go an extra button deep. And Tim’s in a shirt unbuttoned far enough to show off his manly chest. I bet you can picture it.
3. When men hit a formal red carpet, their options are limited: A tux that looks good, or a tux that looks bad. Tim’s looks good . . . and it stays McGraw with that cowboy hat.
4. Country music is all about blue jeans, but he doesn’t go with faded, slouchy, torn, or worn.
5. European below the neck, all-American on top . . . the European part being a turtleneck and dressy pants, the all-American part being his cowboy hat. (Check out the full write-ups and photos in a slide show here.)
Country Quiz: Who Said? “Anger Is One Thing That Fuels My Fire. If I Get Pissed Off About Something, I Write Lyrics About It.”
“Anger is one thing that always fuels my fire. If I get pissed off about something, I write lyrics about it.”
A. Brantley Gilbert
B. Jason Isbell
C. Cody Canada
D. Will Hoge
E. Sturgill Simpson
F. Eric Church
ANSWER: C. CODY CANADA, of CODY CANADA AND THE DEPARTED, assuring us there will always be rage in his songwriting. It came up because he admitted showing his sensitive side in a few songs he wrote on the album, “HippieLovePunk”.
Cody, who’s a father of two, blames that on the Sandy Hook school shootings. He says, quote, “I was watching the news [and] thought, ‘how can we live in a country where we send our kids to school and we have to worry about it?
“‘My parents didn’t worry when they sent me to school. I walked to school, and they didn’t worry about it one bit.’ That’s really what started this thing. [That’s why] there’s a few of those ‘take care of each other’ hippie songs.”
Here is the new video to “Inbetweener”
CARRIE UNDERWOOD chose one of her “Sound of Music” castmates to be the girl in her “Little Toy Guns”video. Her name is GRACE RUNDHAUG and she played Marta von Trapp. Carrie said, quote, “Whenever I thought of the types of things I wanted to see in this video, I just saw her face.”
HUNTER HAYES posted a video of him and his new best friend. He’s a retired racing Greyhound named Cole, and he’s pretty awesome. (Check it out. Careful, you may end up wanting one.)
KIX BROOKS had to turn down the role of Terry George on the show “Nashville” because it conflicted with several concert bookings. The part ended up going to MYKELTI WILLIAMSON, whom you probably know as Bubba from “Forrest Gump”. (Full Story)

Eli Young Band Celebrate the Power of Love in ‘Prayer for the Road’ Video [Exclusive Premiere]
Eli Young Band are getting serious for their ‘Prayer for the Road’ video. The clip — which is debuting exclusively on Taste of Country — pays powerful tribute to the notion that love truly conquers all.
The track comes from the group’s fifth studio album, ’10,000 Towns,’ which also includes the hits ‘Drunk Last Night’ and ‘Dust.’
“The song was inspired by those that put themselves in harm’s way for the rest of us, military, first responders, firefighters, police, etc.,” the band state.
The lyrics frame a note written from an understanding woman to her rambling man: “May the wheels keep turning, get you where you need to go / I’ll keep the porch light burning ’til you get back home / May the angels fly beside you, down every mile you roll / May heaven hear this prayer, prayer for the road.”
Directed by Jeff Ray, the bonus music video opens with a scene of a soot-covered firefighter waking up in a wrecked old home, where his wife seems shocked to see him. He looks back on some of the happiest moments of their life — his proposal, dancing together, giving their first child a toy firetruck and later, just spending as a family before he heads out to work, saying goodbye for what could be the final time.
A pivotal scene shows his wife crouched over him as he lies seemingly dead in the house, which appears to have been destroyed by fire. But the couple are tearfully reunited in the end, standing together and staring toward a bright light that appears through the window of the old house — in a testament to the fact that their love can even overcome death in the end.
Eli Young Band will release a new single, ‘Turn It On,’ on March 10. They are among the many top country acts scheduled to play at the 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival, which takes place June 12-14 at Hunter Mountain in New York.
