Remember a couple weeks ago when we talked about Justin Timberlake showing up backstage and jamming at a Garth Brooks show? Then the next night, Timberlake broke into “Friends In Low Places” at his own concert.
Well at Timberlake’s Friday night concert in Nashville, he went one step cooler. Instead of just singing a Garth Brooks song, he did something even more special:
Timberlake was performing at the Bridgestone Arena in Music City, and he broke out the acoustic guitar for a cover version of the Garth Brooks classic, ‘Friends in Low Places.’ Partway through the song, he stopped and said, “Hold on, now something don’t feel right, something don’t feel right, Nashville.”
He then added, “I mean, if you’re going to do this — Garth?”
Brooks then entered the stage to the screams of the fans, picking up the second verse as the packed arena went wild. He also led the crowd in a singalong of the song’s “lost” verse, which was not featured on the recording, but he sings at his live shows.
The 41st Annual People’s Choice Awards are coming up Jan 7th in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre and they just announce that Lady Antebellum will be performing live on the show. Expect more performers to be announced soon and hopefully a few more country acts will be added to the lineup.
“Music is such an important part of our show, and Lady Antebellum is the perfect addition,” Executive Producer Mark Burnett explains. “This show is for the fans, and having this seven-time Grammy Award-winning band live on our stage will add an amazing element.”
Lady A is also up for Favorite Country Group at this year’s awards. They’ll go up against the Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line, Rascal Flatts and Zac Brown Band. There are also two other strictly country categories: Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Female Country Artist. Winners are chosen based on votes by the public.
It’s too late now to vote for your favorite artists since the voting is closed, but fans can still buy tickets to the awards show at AXS.com.
Congrats to our buddy and Fighting Texas Aggie Granger Smith, he was featured on TasteOfCountry.com regarding the second leg of his Yee Yee Tour kicking off in 2015! Check out the article HERE. If you’ve got any friends on the west coast, prepare them for a great time with Granger and Earl Dibbles Jr.!
Reba announced that her new single “Going Out Like That” will be released on Jan. 6th
[Reba]Reba notes that her version of the tune will be different than the demo that she heard which was sung by a man.
“The first time I heard it, a man was singing the demo,” McEntire says. “When I sang it coming from a female perspective, it became a woman’s power anthem! Sure hope you like it!”
McEntire is going to have a busy 2015. She’s set for a Las Vegas residency with Brooks & Dunn, and she’ll also be releasing a new album on her new label, Nash Icon.
This new project will be the country singer’s first album since 2010. McEntire admits that she thought that disc may have been her last, but her husband, Narvel Blackstock, thought otherwise.
“[He] kept saying, ‘No, it’s not; you’ll record again,’” she says. “And I was like, ‘Wow, where’s your crystal ball?’”

Darius Rucker was recently asked about the favorite Christmas present he ever received:
“I was around 10 or 11, and I wanted a guitar, and my mom was a single parent, and we didn’t have much. And my grandmother told me that I probably wasn’t going to get that guitar this year, and I was cool with that,” he says. “I didn’t ask for it from Santa, it was just a present I wanted from Mom, and so I didn’t think I was going to get it. I woke up Christmas morning, and there it was sitting in the chair right next to the Christmas tree.
“I still remember just being so excited and so happy,” Rucker adds. “It was a great present because I knew how hard my mom worked to get that for me, and that was just a great present.”
Darius released his first ever Christmas album earlier this year called “Home For The Holidays” and it’s available now in iTunes and Amazon.
