Brandy Clark Has “Never Felt Hatred” from Rednecks for Being Openly Gay
This should put a stop to those who think all rednecks and small-town people are homophobic. BRANDY CLARK, who grew up in a working class town, and is openly gay, says she’s NEVER experienced any prejudice.
She tells “Rolling Stone”, quote, “I think people underestimate rednecks. People stereotype rednecks and small-town people the same way they might stereotype gays and lesbians, and it’s not really fair.
“Some of the smartest and most open-minded people I have known in my life, people would look at them and say, ‘That’s redneck.’ I’ve never felt any hatred from rednecks towards me for my sexuality.”
Brandy may get another chance to defend rednecks when the Grammys air on February 8th. She’s nominated for Best New Artist . . . and her album “12 Stories” is up for Best Country Album.
Glen Campbell Got His First Oscar Nomination . . . But Won’t Be Able to Attend
It’s kind of bittersweet that GLEN CAMPBELL’s “I’m Not Gonna Miss You“ is nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar. It’s from the documentary “Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me” . . . it’s the last song he’ll ever make . . . and it’s his first Oscar nomination.
But Glen’s Alzheimer’s disease has progressed to the point that he’s living full-time in a special care facility, and it’s unlikely that he could even attend the ceremony.
CHRIS YOUNG and LEE BRICE will launch a co-headline tour, called One Night Only, next Thursday in Syracuse, New York. The BROTHERS OSBOURNE will be the openers. You can grab the dates atChrisYoungCountry.com.

Garth Brooks Regains Title of Best-Selling Solo Artist in U.S. History
It’s definitely good to be Garth Brooks these days. Thanks to recent album sales, the singer has regained the title of best-selling solo artist in the history of the United States.
The ‘People Loving People’ singer has sold a total of 135 million units, according to the RIAA, just slightly more than Elvis Presley (134.5 million units).
Brooks and Presley are the only two solo artists in the Top 5. The Beatles are at the top of the list, with 178 million units, while Led Zeppelin (111.5 million units) and the Eagles (101 million units) round things out.
Other country artists who appear on the list of top-selling artists include George Strait (No. 12), Kenny Rogers (No. 22), Shania Twain (No. 26), Alabama (No. 29), Alan Jackson (No. 31) and Reba McEntire (No. 36).
Brooks’ latest disc, ‘Man Against Machine,’ his first collection of new tunes since ‘Scarecrow’ in 2001, was recently certified platinum, for sales in excess of one million units. The record, which held the No. 1 slot for a total of six weeks, was also the first album he released on his own digital GhostTunes.
The country legend is continuing his World Tour with a series of shows in his home state of Oklahoma this week, and he just announced that he will head to Denver, Colo., in March. A complete list of shows is available here.
