cma-awards-14-logo-blackLooking for some late night TV on this Monday? Check out “Countdown to the CMA Awards:  15 Songs That Changed Country Music” from 10:00 to 11:00 P.M. on ABC.  Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, and Brad Paisley will make appearances and the performers include Kacey Musgraves, Lady Antebellum, and Martina McBride.

BLAKE SHELTON has been a country star since 2001, but he didn’t win his first CMA until 2011, when he picked up the trophy for Best Male Vocalist.  Those dry years gave him a complex.

He says, quote, “I’m surprised, honestly, every time I get nominations.  You’ve got to remember, I guess the first eight or nine years I never had any kind of nominations.

“I had decided, years ago, that I just wasn’t going to be one of those artists that wins awards.  I think I had written it off for so long it’s like, ‘Oh my God, I’m finding out I got a nomination.  I can’t believe it.'”

Blake’s up for three CMAs:  Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year . . . and Single of the Year for “Mine Would Be You”.  The show airs Wednesday at 8:00 P.M. on ABC.

Dolly Parton Calls “I Will Always Love You” the “Gift That Keeps Giving”

DOLLY PARTON was on HBO’s “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways” on Friday.  She was asked about her iconic song “I Will Always Love You” and she said, “That little song keeps going every decade.  I had a Number One on it around 1972.

“In 1982 it was #1 again, [because] it was in the movie ‘Best Little Whorehouse in Texas’.  I had a Top 10 duet with VINCE GILL on it the next decade . . . and then WHITNEY HOUSTON took it #1 all over the world.  It’s the gift that keeps on giving.”

Taste of Country has a slideshow of country artists in their Halloween costumes.  Some of the best include Parmalee as “The Dukes of Hazzard”  . . . Jana Kramer as the hottest Princess Leia I’ve ever seen . . . Jon Pardi and his mates as a glam metal band . . . and Miranda Lambert not too shabby as Rosie the Riveter.

GARTH BROOKS fell on stage . . . AGAIN.  He lost his footing while performing “The Fever” during his show on Friday in Lexington, Kentucky.  **EDITOR’S NOTE: Doesn’t Garth realize he’s too old and umm… husky to have a moving stage like that? – Drake**

GRETCHEN WILSON is returning to co-host “The View” on November 10th.  It’ll be her second time.  She said, quote, “I had a great time when I co-hosted the show last year.  Everyone was wonderful, and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again.”

For those that love to hate TAYLOR SWIFT, the folks at SNL had a great gag about her this weekend, check it out here.
