Country Stars Reveal Their Worst Summer Jobs
The Grand Ole Opry’s YouTube channel released a video of five country stars talking about their worst summer jobs. Four of them worked with the public, in retail or food services, and the other one’s job was hot, steamy, and smelly.
CRAIG MORGAN’s job was at a fast food place called The Corn Dog 7. His description, quote, “It sucked.”
MAGGIE ROSE’s worst summer job was at a Joe’s Crab Shack. She put the blame on herself saying, quote, “I’m not a good waitress.”
DUSTIN LYNCH is the one who had the stinky job. He spent an entire summer “mulching.” Quote, “You don’t get used to it. After weeks and weeks of doing it, it still smells and it’s still hot and steamy, and it stinks. It’s tough work.”
TARA THOMPSON was in retail and didn’t like it because, quote, “I’m very OCD when it comes to folding, and people would just come in and rip things off the shelf.”
KELSEA BALLERINI worked in a cupcake shop, and it was the OPPOSITE of bad. She said, quote, “They told me if there was a cupcake that was messed up, you had to dispose of it. I would just eat all the cupcakes.”
CHARLES KELLEY had a wardrobe malfunction at the Windy City LakeShake. Fortunately, or unfortunately, no offending photos have surfaced, but he did post a pic of the offending pants. He captioned it, “Ripped my favorite jeans climbing back on stage after I ran into the crowd. Gotta pay extra for that show.”
THOMAS RHETT was asked if he’d be interested in doing some kind of “family reality show.” Although he thinks his family has “HI-larious” moments, he’s not interested. Quote, “I think [my wife] Lauren would never go for that, and probably neither would I.”
Randy Travis Receives 2016 Artist Career Achievement Award
Randy Travis was on hand in Nashville Wednesday night (June 22) to receive a very special award at the Country Radio Hall of Fame dinner.
The 57-year-old country icon is one of the keystone country artists of his generation. His 1986 debut album, Storms of Life, helped to usher in the era of New Traditionalists in country music in the mid-’80s after the genre had wandered away from its musical roots during the heavily pop-influenced Urban Cowboy era, and he has been one of the most respected and awarded artists in the genre since then.
Travis has been named as a 2016 inductee to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Country Radio Seminar honored him Wednesday with its special Artist Career Achievement Award, which is given each year to an artist “who has made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of country music and country radio,” according to All Access.
