Chris Cagle Is Quitting Country Music
CHRIS CAGLE is calling it quits. He announced it Sunday on Facebook saying, quote, “I’d like to thank everyone for 15 years of a great time. From BROOKS & DUNN to RASCAL FLATTS and fans.
“I’m gonna miss my band and everyone. All this means . . . I’m going home. I’m going to be a father and a great husband and enjoy my life. I thank you all for everything. I’ve had a great run and would just like to go home with my dignity.
“I’m tired of missing moments like this . . . and this.” The “this” and “this” he’s referring to are photos he posted of his two children in their Halloween costumes.
His surprised fans hit up the comments section wondering if he’s serious. So, he went on Twitter yesterday to say, quote, “I just watched my tour bus roll out of the ranch. I hope the guys on it will forever know what they’ve meant to my life.”
Chris’s biggest hit was “I Breathe In, I Breathe Out”, which went to #1 in 2001.
His other Top 10 hits include “What A Beautiful Day”, “Chicks Dig It”, and “What Kinda Gone”.
Brad Paisley is “Bringing” Divorce Jokes to the CMAs
Turns out BLAKE SHELTON really did give BRAD PAISLEY permission to “kick him in the face” with divorce jokes at tomorrow night’s CMAs.
Brad says, quote, “I will say it’s admirable that Blake went on ‘Seth Meyers’ and said ‘Bring it.’ So we will. He and I have had a few conversations here and there. He’s not someone who’s concerned at all, quite honestly. It’s really refreshing.”
It doesn’t sound like Brad’s going to come down too hard, though. Quote, “It’s kind of an exercise in empathy. It’s an exercise in sort of putting yourself in that person’s position.
“And then you weigh the pros and cons of how funny it is versus how damaging it could be. We never want to damage anybody’s reputation or make them feel awkward, but at the same time we don’t want to avoid things that are good humor.”
It’ll also be interesting to see if Brad and his cohost CARRIE UNDERWOOD go after the two other big name country divorces this year. Those being REBA MCENTIRE and Narvel Blackstock . . . and JAKE OWEN and Lacey Buchanan.
Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton Are Performing Together at the CMAs
Here’s another great collaboration on tomorrow night’s CMAs. CHRIS STAPLETON will be performing withJUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. They’re actually good friends and all it took was one phone call.
Chris says, quote, “He was so gracious and kind to want to do it. I’m excited too, it’s something I’ve never done before.” No word what song they’ll be performing.
The previously announced collaborations include Keith Urban with John Mellencamp . . . Thomas Rhett and Fall Out Boy . . . and Eric Church with Hank Williams Jr.
Luke Bryan Would Like to Go Fishing With Elvis
LUKE BRYAN was asked if there’s a musical artist, living or dead, he’d like to spend the day with. He went old school. Quote, “I mean, it would no doubt be ELVIS . . . just no question. I’d just try to take him fishing. Sit in a jon boat.”
Luke’s been a huge fan of The King since he was a little kid. Quote, “I used to sit in my room with my record player and listen to ‘C.C. Rider‘. I’d be, like, four years old in my underwear singing Elvis songs.”
