Dixie Chicks Announce North American Tour Dates
For the first time in a decade, the Dixie Chicks have announced a North American tour.
The country trio’s DCX MMXVI World Tour kicks off with a set of previously revealed European shows, but on June 1, 2016, Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison will begin the North American leg in Cincinnati, Ohio. They’ll be playing dates throughout the U.S. and Canada through October; a complete list of stops is below.
The band had been teasing a big announcement on their social media accounts leading up to the tour reveal, and back in July, Maines said on her own Twitter account that the Chicks “will tour the states again.”
Previously, the group had said that they weren’t sure if they’d be welcome to perform on American soil, given the response after Maines’ comments about then-President George W. Bush in 2003. In March of that year, as the U.S. was preparing to invade Iraq, Maines famously said, during a concert in London, “Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.”
The backlash from the country music community was swift and unapologetic, with radio stations banning the Chicks’ music and several artists publicly speaking out against the threesome.

Blake Shelton Used His Tractor to Pull Some Guys Out of the Mud
Remember back in June when BLAKE SHELTON helped a guy who was stranded on the side of the road in Oklahoma? Well, he did another rescue on Friday, but this time he had to put in a little more work.
Bryar Blanton, Lenyell Blanton, Josh Turner, and Adrian Poplin slid into a big mud hole next to the Washita River in Ardmore, Oklahoma. (About 90 miles south of Oklahoma City.)
Two of them went looking for help, and eventually came across Blake. He gave them a ride back, and then tried to pull their car out with his truck. It didn’t work, so he got his TRACTOR and came back to finish the job.
Bryar told “Entertainment Tonight“, quote, “After he helped, he talked to us for a minute then said he had to go. He had his bow with him, and we talked about hunting. He’s an all-around nice, caring guy.”
Bryar also posted a thank you on Twitter, and Blake responded with, “No problem. Now you boys stay outta jail.”
BRANTLEY GILBERT postponed his European tour following the tragedy in Paris. He posted the news Saturday on Facebook, saying, “Out of respect for the lives lost in [the] terrorist attacks, we have decided to postpone the rest of our European dates. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of France.”
You may recall that LEE BRICE promised to perform in all 50 states in one year. Well, he accomplished it last night in Rome, Georgia. If you’re keeping track that means he did it with some six weeks to spare. You can check out some of the milestones along the way by hitting up #LeeBrice50in52.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD admits that she gave her phone number to KELSEA BALLERINI, but wasn’t very helpful at giving her career advice.
Speaking of Kelsea Ballerini, she’s performing at this year’s National Christmas Tree Lighting on December 3rd in Washington D.C. Other performers include Crosby, Stills & Nash, Tori Kelly, and Fall Out Boy. Watch it online at TheNationalTree.org . . . or during the month of December on PBS.
CHARLES KELLEY describes his duet with STEVIE NICKS on the Tom Petty song “Southern Accents” as “one of the coolest experiences.” It’ll be on his upcoming solo album. No word yet on a release date. (Delicious Audio)
