The Surprising Story Behind Stephen Dorff’s Country-Themed Movie “Wheeler”
STEPHEN DORFF’s new movie “Wheeler” came out over the weekend, and the story behind it is really cool. He came up with the idea of doing a pseudo-documentary about a country singer hoping to make it in Nashville.
Now, before you think you’ve seen this before, well, you haven’t. There was no script, just a 10-page treatment where Stephen would go undercover as an unknown country singer performing in real Nashville clubs. He wore prosthetics so no one would know.
And he fooled pretty much everyone. He played top clubs like The Bluebird, and was so good that agents were handing him their cards telling him to call. That part’s VERY important because, as we said, there was no script, just an idea.
So, when people believed he had the skills, THAT changed the movie. Regarding those skills, he has deep ties to Music City. His dad’s a respected Nashville songwriter, and so was his brother, Andrew Dorff, who passed away unexpectedly in December.
Stephen also co-wrote most of the songs in the film, including the first single, “Pour Me Out Of This Town”.

Obviously, CNN realized they screwed up, so they posted this, “Correction: FAITH EVANS is releasing an album of duets with The Notorious B.I.G., 20 years after his murder.”
