Chase Rice Was Pressured to Record “Bro Country” Type Stuff
Remember when everyone mocked the so-called bro country sound because the lyrics seemed almost interchangeable from song to song? Well, here’s a story about someone who admits he was guilty of it, and hated himself because of it.
I’m talking about CHASE RICE. He told “Rolling Stone” that he knew he was making bad choices and wanted to change, but the record company suits wouldn’t listen. Quote, “I felt like people were holding me back from the music I could create.
“That’s no way to live, and it’s weighed me down for a long time. This is actually the first time I’ve talked about it. [It’s] been hell, but when you know what you can do and you’re not able to do it, it feels like a slap in the face.”
He finally got up the courage to change labels and he feels liberated. Instead of nonstop songs about partying, he’s been experimenting with different sounds and textures . . . and lyrics that deal with relationships and emotions.
Some of that has worked its way into his next album, which is called “Lambs and Lions”. Quote, “They’re finally going to see the me I want them to see.” No word yet when the new music will be out.
You may know that DIERKS BENTLEY loves to dress in disguise and perform with a group called the Bolo Boys Bluegrass Band. It’s usually a couple of hours before his own concert . . . and then he comes out later as if it never happened. Well, he did it again on Saturday in West Palm Beach, Florida. (Full Story)
