Country Stars Are Honoring Gregg Allman
GREGG ALLMAN’s death was felt pretty hard in the country community. His music influenced a lot of today’s artists . . . and several hit up social media to express their feelings. Here are a few:
JASON ALDEAN wrote, “This one hurts a lot. This was one of my heroes. He made it seem possible for a kid to come out of Macon, Georgia, make a name for himself, and make it in this business. He was such an inspiration.”
BRAD PAISLEY Tweeted, “What a legacy @GreggAllman leaves behind. Jam on in the great hereafter.”
CHARLIE DANIELS said, “Gregg had a feeling for the blues very few ever have. Hard to believe that magnificent voice is stilled forever.”
KEITH URBAN wrote, “My heard breaks at the passing of soul brother Gregg Allman. Blessings and peace to all of [his] family.”
“Rolling Stone”put together “10 stunning Gregg Allman Covers by Country Artists.” They include Chris Stapleton, Waylon Jennings, Vince Gill, and Eric Church. (Warning! Don’t play the live stuff without vetting it first. Here’s the link.)
Kip Moore Wants a Girl Just Like Billy Currington’s
KIP MOORE and BILLY CURRINTON are pretty tight. And like most friendships they have a lot in common. They’re nuts about the outdoors and surfing . . . and they both require a woman who can go with the flow.
At least that’s what Kip says. Quote, “I freaking love the dude. We’ve talked about taking some surfing trips together from here on out. He’s found a girl that can go with the flow too. She’s the same kind of person he is.
“Somebody was asking me what kind of woman it’ll take for me to settle down with, and it’s definitely gonna take somebody that can go with the flow, that’s for sure.”
(Kip’s obviously talking about Billy’s girlfriend Katie. Here’s a photo of them together that Billy posted about a week ago.)
One more thing about Kip: He doesn’t think it’s fair that songwriters in Nashville have been getting squeezed out of royalties. So, if he records one of their songs but it never gets released as a single, he’s going to give them a bonus. (Billboard)
SCOTTY MCCREERY performed his song “The Dash” at Sunday’s Memorial Day Concert in Washington D.C. (Here’s video.)
By the way, the video playing behind Scotty honors Sergeant First Class Lewis Clark Walton. He was killed in Vietnam but his remains weren’t found and returned home until 36 years later. That’s his widow and adult children in the audience.
