RaeLynn’s Dog Bit Blake Shelton’s Fiddle Player . . . and Other Highlights from Blake’s Facebook Chat
BLAKE SHELTON did a Facebook Live chat on Tuesday. It went down backstage at the Grand Ole Opry right after he did a surprise show. He performed a few songs on his own . . . and also brought out TheOak Ridge Boys.
Anyway, he started the chat by urging his fans to visit the Opry, obviously. He also thanked the “Billboard Music Awards” on his nominations for Top Country Artist, and Top Country Album for “If I’m Honest”.
And then, questions. Somebody asked for the most memorable moment from his Doin’ It To Country Songs tour. He said it was when RaeLynn’s dog bit his fiddle player.
Asked who he’d love to share the Opry stage with, he said, quote, “I think it’d be fun to sing with Steve Wariner. He’s one of my heroes, but we’ve never performed together, though. That would be cool.”
Someone wondered if he’s changed his coaching strategy through the years on “The Voice”. But he said he’s never even had one because each artist is a “completely different scenario” . . . and it’s about helping them accomplish what they need.
Canaan Smith’s New Song Name-Checks Miranda Lambert . . . In a Good Way
CANAAN SMITH has a new song coming out tomorrow called “Like You That Way”. And people are already talking about it because there’s a line in the chorus that almost sounds disrespectful to MIRANDA LAMBERT.
Here it is: “Ain’t nothin’ ’bout you baby I wanna change. Girl you’re Miranda Lambert crazy and I like you that way. You keep the sunshine in your pocket and the rain on a chain. Yeah, you’re a little complicated but I like you that way.”
But he meant no disrespect by it. It’s kind of a reference to her song and album “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”, but he says it’s really a tribute to her kickass attitude about life.
Quote, “It’s a compliment the way we use her name in that song. I think it’s sexy when women kind of do what they want and have an attitude. My wife’s a lot like that.”
Canaan knew the line might raise some eyebrows so he had his people reach out to Miranda’s people, and she’s totally cool with it. “Like You That Way” will be on his next album, which is supposed to come out in the fall.
(Here’s a clip of the song. It doesn’t have the Miranda lyric, though.)
There’s a LITTLE BIG TOWN-inspired wine coming sometime this summer. It’s from a vintner named Four Cellars.
CRAIG MORGAN recently finished his eighth USO tour, and there’s a very good chance he’ll be doubling that number. He says as long as the USO keeps asking, he’s going to keep giving everything he can.
WILLIE NELSON recorded a new song called “To Get Here”. It’s featured in the upcoming movie “Dog Years”, which stars Burt Reynolds and Ariel Winter, and will be in theaters April 22nd. (You can listen Willie’s new song, here.)
