Are These The Five Best Country Songs About Football?
It’s NFL kickoff weekend so TheBoot.com has a list of the Top Five Country Songs about football. The order is debatable, but they’re all worthy. Here it is:
1. “The Boys of Fall”, Kenny Chesney. Great football song, but it should be #2 on this list . . . because of the man below.
2. “Are You Ready for Some Football?”, Hank Williams Jr. Hank’s “Monday Night Football” theme IS football. Game over, turn in your pads, kill the lights.
3. “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night”, Faith Hill. Did you know Faith’s theme was based on the Joan Jettclassic “I Hate Myself for Loving You“? You do now.
4. “Friday Night”, Brantley Gilbert. It’s from Brantley’s debut album “Modern Day Prodigal Son”, and it’s about how important football is in small-town America.
5. “The Ball”, James Otto. Cool story about a guy who dropped a potential winning pass in a high school football game. It changed his life, but in a good way, because the fallout led to him meeting his future wife.
Jason Aldean Finally Apologized for Wearing Blackface Last Halloween
Well, I guess better late than never. JASON ALDEAN has finally apologized for wearingblackface last Halloween. He dressed as rapper LIL WAYNE and shockingly didn’t think it was inappropriate.
Let’s start off with WHY he did it. He said he wanted to hang out with friends so he bought the costume at a store. And to keep from getting recognized, he had his wife BRITTANY KERR apply the blackface . . . because she’s a makeup artist.
Okay, so here’s his apology, quote: “Me doing that had zero malicious intent. I get that race is a touchy subject, but not everybody is that way. If that was disrespectful to anyone, I by all means apologize. That was never my intention. It never crossed my mind.”
He also blamed the media, because that’s what people do. And he said that everyone’s too sensitive nowadays and no matter what he does, somebody’s going to make a big deal out of it.
Carrie Underwood’s Message For Impressionable Young Girls Is . . . Don’t Quit
CARRIE UNDERWOOD was a really good softball player in high school, but she had to quit so she could concentrate on her music career. Obviously, that was the right choice for her.
So, “People” asked what she’d say to a young girl who’s feeling frustrated or overwhelmed and wants to quit sports. Her answer is, don’t. When things get hard that’s exactly when you fight the urge to quit because the rewards are great.
Believe it or not, even though she was off working on her singing career, she wishes she could’ve found more time to stay and play softball a little longer.
Here’s a related story. Carrie’s hockey-playing husband MIKE FISHER has been named captain of his team, the Nashville Predators.
She congratulated him with a post on social media, saying, “So proud of my @MikeFisher. I see how hard he works every single day. He’s going to wear that ‘C’ well.”
KACEY MUSGRAVES will be releasing her very first holiday album on October 28th. It’s called “A Very Kacey Christmas”, and it features WILLIE NELSON on a song she co-wrote called “A Willie Nice Christmas”. (Get it?) She posted a promo clip about the album on Instagram.
People.com posted some behind-the-scenes photos from the ACM Honors. They include pics of Luke Bryan, The Band Perry, Tanya Tucker, Charles Kelley, and Emmylou Harris. The “10th Annual ACM Honors” airs tonight on CBS.
