Blake Shelton Was His Usual Wiseass Self at a Free Show in Nashville
BLAKE SHELTON did a free street concert on Nashville’s Music Row on Wednesday. It was a way to honor his fans, and it also served as a fundraiser for the T.J. Martell Foundation, which raises money for cancer research.
Despite the good vibes, he still dumped on the record company suits that once rejected him. He held up a glass and said, quote, “Come on, bigwigs. Toast with me, damn it. I can’t tell y’all how many times I drove up and down this road dreaming of somebody letting me in one of these doors to play a song for them.
“Here I am . . . only 20 years later. And you know what? All those doors that didn’t let me in can kiss my ass, because I’m in front of them now.”
Once he got that off his chest he remembered to honor the songwriters that helped his career . . . and he gave huge props to the crowd.
Quote, “I’m shocked and honored this many people came to hang out with me. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I’d see this street blocked off and so many people here. Thank you so much.”
FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE will be performing at the Daytona 500 Pre-Race show in February. That’s awesome enough, but it’s an even bigger deal for BRIAN KELLEY because he grew up six miles away, in Ormond Beach. In fact, his dad’s the Ormond Beach mayor. (ABC)
