Luke Bryan Thinks “Bro-Country” is a Degrading Term
I’m sure LUKE BRYAN is sick and tired of talking about “bro-country.” And yet, he was polite enough to give an honest answer when it came up in an interview with Cleveland’s “Plain Dealer”.
He said, quote, “I take a little offense. I feel the initial term bro-country was created to be kind of a little degrading to what’s popular, to what country artists are doing right now.”
He makes a pretty good point. If you want to badmouth today’s country music, just call it bro-country. He adds, quote, “It’s frustrating because whichever artists may or may not get labeled as that, they’re well beyond that.”
Dan + Shay Are Taking a Stand Against Professional Autograph Hounds
DAN + SHAY wrote an open letter to autograph hounds who follow them around getting them to sign stuff, just so they can sell it on eBay. They’re mostly upset because it gets in the way of real fans who want a souvenir.
They’re asking people who’ve bought something from an eBay seller to contact them, and they’ll hit ’em back with an invite to a meet & greet, or other autographed items. (Here’s the link to the letter.)
He also believes the term is an insult to his fans. Quote, “It just seems like [it] was invented to cheapen me as an artist. My fans are there because my version of music is what they love, and that’s what I’m all about.”
Dustin Lynch Is Not Embarrassed That the “Grease” Soundtrack is on His iPod
DUSTIN LYNCH did a TasteOfCountry.com Twitter chat with fans. Somebody asked about the embarrassing songs on his iPod, and he answered, “I’m not embarrassed at all, but the ‘Grease’ soundtrack is a must.”
When asked about his favorite things to do when he’s not performing, he said, “Hunt, fish, and surf.”
And his non-country influences are James Taylor, Tom Petty, Incubus, and John Mayer.
The first set of dates have been confirmed for this year’s CMT on Tour, which features Brett Eldredge, Thomas Rhett, and Danielle Bradbery. It kicks off October 29th in New York City and runs through December 11th in Chicago. Details are at CMT.com.
Speaking of Thomas Rhett: He and his wife Lauren go skydiving, skimboarding, and cliff jumping in the video to his song “Vacation“.
