Luke Bryan Is Okay With the Outside Influences in Today’s Country Music
LUKE BRYAN says people should accept the outside influences in today’s country music. Quote, “The scope of it has widened. People’s playlists will have songs in 15 different genres. You can be mad LUKE BRYAN admits that today’s country music has plenty of influences . . . and that’s not a bad thing. He tells “Rolling Stone”, quote, “The scope of it has widened. People want to go crazy and be mad. But let me tell you something: Everywhere I go, people’s playlists . . . in 20 songs, there are 15 different genres.
“Whether they are tailgating, sitting out having a cigar on their patio, it’s just the deal. You can be mad about it, or not. Or you can go download an album, pick your favorite song and put it on your playlist. And let that be your story.”
Speaking of Luke: He had another stage accident, but this one didn’t feature him falling on his face. He got blasted by a smoke machine while performing his song “That’s My Kind of Night” at CMA Fest.
Why is Billy Currington Known as “Coconut Man”?
I have very important news. We finally know why BILLY CURRINGTON’s friends call him “coconut man.” He says, quote, “I sell coconuts on the side. I do that in Key West [on] Mallory Square. Been doing it about 20 years, just sell them for fun.
“We don’t make a lot of money, but we charge $4, $5 a coconut. It’s a lot of people getting off cruise ships down there, people that love coconut water, and we’re right there for them when [they] get off.”
It may sound like he’s kidding, but he’s not. He even uses it in his Instagram handle, which is @Bccoconutman.
Don Henley Denies He’s Releasing A Country Album
DON HENLEY from the EAGLES has been in and out of Nashville for the past five years working on an album, but he refuses to call it a country record. He tells “Rolling Stone”, quote, “I was born in Cass County, Texas. I’m a Southerner and a Texan.
“I have ancestors in Tennessee, Mississippi and Georgia. This is a natural progression. It’s not me trying to do the ‘Don Henley country album.’ It’s who I am and where I come from.” It’s called “Cass County” and it’s due out in the fall.
The list of guest performers includes several country stars like Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, Alison Krauss, and Trisha Yearwood . . . and a pretty famous rocker named Mick Jagger.
