Live-action fairy tale movies are hot now . . . Disney’s new “Cinderella” movie hits theaters tomorrow, and earlier this week, they announced that a live-action “Dumbo” is in the works.
So Moviefone.com put together a list of “The 25 Best Live-Action Fairy Tale Movies.” 11 of them were released within the past 12 years . . . and seven came out in the mid-’80s. Here’s the list:
- “The Wizard of Oz”, 1939
- “The Princess Bride”, 1987
- “Pan’s Labyrinth”, 2006
- “The Thief of Bagdad”, 1940
- “Enchanted”, 2007
It’s hard to argue with those top 2. Both are classics in their own right. Mel had a question about Enchanted being all the way up at #5. Not that it wasn’t a great movie, but because there were other great ones later in the list like “Maleficent” at 16, “The NeverEnding Story” at 23, and Robin Williams “Hook” at 25.
Hit up the slideshow at Moviefone.com for brief write-ups on each movie.
Are there any movies you’d take out of the top 5 and put something else there?
