Blake Shelton Did a Solid Job on “SNL”, in Spite of The Mediocre Sketches
BLAKE SHELTON did a solid job on “Saturday Night Live”. He didn’t seem at all nervous and had no problem keeping up with cast in all the sketches he was in. Unfortunately, most of the jokes were either in bad taste, or just plain bad.
Blake’s opening featured a “Hee Haw” parody that was packed with “dumb redneck” and “hillbilly incest” jokes. (Here’s that.) There was a takeoff on “The Bachelor” called “Farm Hunk”. It had promise, but hardly any laughs. (Check it out.)
They did a “Family Feud” sketch that pitted the cast of “The Voice” against the cast of “American Idol”. Sadly, it’s only worth a look to see “SNL’s” KATE MCKINNON doing a funny KEITH URBAN. (Here’s that one.)
Blake played guitar and sang in a sketch about an old guy who became a YouTube sensation after writing a song about his deceased wife. Again, nice premise, but it just didn’t take off. (Here’s the link.)
Blake’s two musical performances were strong and worth checking out, plus they featured GWEN SEBASTIANsinging backup. (Here’s “Neon Light“, and “Boys ‘Round Here“. If you’d like more, here’s the FULL episode at Hulu.com.)
Brad Paisley Agreed to Jam with a Teenage Guitarist Who Wrote a Song About Him
BRAD PAISLEY has agreed to jam with a teenage guitarist named Blaze, after the kid posted a YouTube videoof a song he wrote. It’s called “Brad Paisley”, and it’s about his respect for Brad’s guitar skills and how it’s his dream to jam with him.
Brad was so impressed he said yes. He Tweeted, quote, “Speechless. Obviously, a lot of work went into this, and yes sir, I will jam with you. My local @GuitarCenter or yours?” No word yet when the jam will go down.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD Tweeted a photo of her balancing a snack bowl on her bulging belly. She captioned it, “Pregnancy perk: Using my belly as a tabletop for my snacks! Nom, nom, nom.”
