Brett Eldredge Elected to CMA Board of Directors
Eldredge joins Little Big Town‘s Karen Fairchild as one of the board’s artist members. The CMA’s board of directors is made up of executives from all branches of the country music industry. Other artists who serve as directors at large include Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Kix Brooks and Chris Young.
Among other duties, the board oversees the process of putting together the CMA Music Festival and the CMA Awards.
Eldredge beat out Brandy Clark, Kip Moore, Thomas Rhett and Cole Swindell to take home the 2014 CMA Award for New Artist of the Year, sharing a memory of his first CMA Awards show during his acceptance speech.
“I remember a few years ago, I got here so early. I went out there to sit, and I was the only person sitting down here,” he said. “I was so excited. I was just dreaming what it would be like to be up here.

Kenny Chesney Was Once Fired Because of a Clown
Kenny Chesney is one of country’s brightest stars, but before he went on to tour the world and sell millions of records, he had to get a day job. And that day job took a nosedive because of a pesky clown.
When Chesney first moved to Nashville, he got a job at Houndogs, a hot dog stand on Music Row. He was hired to sell the dogs, and the owner, named Flash, told the singer that only one thing would get him fired: The stand had trash cans with clown heads on top, from one of Jim Varney’s ‘Earnest’ movies, and if he didn’t lock up the clown heads at the end of the night, he was done.
Unfortunately, Chesney seemed to forget that little rule. He admits that one week after he started working there, he left the clown heads out, and sure enough, Flash fired him.
Here’s another fun fact, though: Chesney also played on a small stage next to the stand — a place where several country stars got their start, including Tim McGraw.
Check out the video above — the latest in Taste of Country‘s ‘You Think You Know Country?’ series — to learn more about Chesney’s rise to fame.

Miranda Lambert Selects ‘Little Red Wagon’ as New Single [LISTEN]
Fresh off the success of the hit song ‘Somethin’ Bad’ from her ‘Platinum’ album, Miranda Lambert has chosen ‘Little Red Wagon’ as her next single from the project.
The song was written by Joe Ginsberg and Audra Mae, the niece of Judy Garland. Mae originally included the song on her own 2012 ‘Audra Mae & the Almighty Sound’ record, and Lambert may have never heard the tune if not for the keen ear of one of her musician friends.
“John Eddie is an artist who has come out on the road with us before and opened a few times,” Lambert explains (quote via NewsOK.com). “He called my tour manager three or four years ago and said, ‘Hey, tell Miranda about this girl Audra Mae, specifically her song ‘Little Red Wagon.’ I think she could rock it.’”
The uptempo tune, with lines like, “You can’t ride in my little red wagon / The front seat’s broken and the axel’s draggin’ / No you can’t step to this backyard swagger / You know it ain’t my fault when I’m walkin’ jaws droppin’,” was a perfect fit for the songstress.
“When I heard it, I thought, ‘Oh god. This girl is ridiculous,’” Lambert recalls. “So I stalked her down. We’re the same age, and she’s from Oklahoma. I asked her point blank: ‘What’s your plan for ‘Little Red Wagon’? Can I cut it? Can I even try to be a hair on the a– of how you did it?’”
The wife of Blake Shelton and 2014 ACC Awards Female Vocalist of the Year showed off her svelte figure while debuting the song at ‘Fashion Rocks’ event earlier this year.
‘Platinum’ debuted at the top of the charts when it was released in June. The album, which also includes the single ‘Automatic,’ earned Lambert a spot at the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, her first time there.
